These lampshades are made using Tholu Bommalata: the centuries-old leather shadow-puppetry craft of Andhra Pradesh, India, and a Geographical Indication (GI) protected art form. Skilled artisans hand-treat, cut, and paint natural leather with the same techniques once used to bring shadow puppets to life, so when lit, each shade casts warm, intricate patterns of light and shadow across the room.
Available in two sizes : a compact 5" and a larger 8", and in either a square or cylindrical silhouette, so you can choose the shape that suits your space. Each piece is genuinely handmade, meaning the leather's natural grain and the artisan's brushwork will vary slightly from shade to shade.
